CliQ ("we", "us") makes an app that keeps a living baseline of cognitive performance: reaction time, memory, focus, and coordination, measured through quick check-ins and read alongside the movement, sleep, and recovery data your phone already collects. This policy covers the CliQ app and the services behind it.
Information you give us: your name, email address, birth date, sex at birth, and dominant hand (the last two make your scores comparable to your own history, nothing else), the results of check-ins you take, journal entries and mood check-ins you write, profiles you create for your children, and suggestions or feedback you send us.
Information from your device, only with your permission: data you authorize through Apple Health, such as walking metrics, activity, sleep, heart rate, and heart rate variability. iOS asks you exactly what to share, and you can change or revoke that permission at any time in the Health app.
Information collected automatically: basic device information, app version, and diagnostic logs that tell us when something breaks.
When CliQ sensor hardware ships, it will record impact events (force, direction, and time). Those recordings will be covered by an update to this policy before the hardware reaches you.
getcliqapp.com is where families sign up and take a founding number. When you sign up here we collect your email address, the role and sport you choose, your referral code, your family number, and the page and campaign that brought you, so referral rewards work and we know which efforts reach families. The site uses cookies and similar technologies for analytics, measured through Google Tag Manager. Signups are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which processes technical signals from your browser to tell people from bots. We do not run ads on this site and we do not sell website data.
We send service emails about your registration, your number, and your referral standing through our email provider, which processes your address to deliver them and to tell us whether they arrived. Delivery results, such as an address that no longer works, are part of how we verify referral counts. You can opt out of anything beyond essential service messages using the link in any email.
We use your information to run the service: to compute your scores and baselines, to connect your check-ins with the body data you have authorized, to show your record back to you and to the guardians you have connected, to send notifications you have turned on, to answer support requests, and to fix bugs.
We also use data in de-identified, aggregated form, which never identifies you or your child, to improve how CliQ's measurements and scoring work. Research that involves anyone's individual record is different: that only ever happens as an explicit, separate opt-in.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use it for advertising. We do not share Apple Health data with advertisers, data brokers, or any third party for their own purposes, and we use it only to provide the features you can see in the app. These are commitments, not marketing lines.
CliQ is built for families, and a child's record belongs to the family. A child under 13 can only use CliQ through a profile a parent or guardian creates, on the parent's account. A teen who signs up on their own must name a parent, and that parent has to approve before the teen's testing and data collection open up.
Parents can see their child's record, pause it, or withdraw consent at any time from Consent & Privacy in the app. Withdrawing consent stops collection immediately: no new checks, no new data, and the record goes dark for everyone on the account until consent is given again.
We never advertise to children, never sell children's data, and collect from a child only what the service you can see actually uses. A parent may also ask us to delete a child's data entirely. See Retention and deletion below.
We share personal data with the service providers who run our infrastructure (cloud hosting and databases, and Apple for accounts, purchases, and notifications). They process it for us, under contract, and cannot use it for themselves.
Beyond that, we disclose personal data only: when you direct us to (for example, if you export your record and hand it to someone), when the law validly requires it, or as part of a merger or acquisition, in which case this policy continues to apply and we will tell you before anything changes.
There are no ad networks in the app, and no data brokers anywhere in this story.
Some of what CliQ keeps for you (check-in results, sleep, heart measurements, journal entries about how you feel) is consumer health data under the laws of several states. We collect it only to provide the service described in this policy, we do not sell it, and we do not share it for advertising. You can ask us what we hold, ask us to delete it, and withdraw the consent that lets us collect it, all through the app or by contacting us. We will not treat you differently for exercising any of these rights.
We keep your data while your account is active, because the whole point of a baseline is its history. If you delete your account, or ask us to delete your data or your child's data, we delete it from our production systems and it leaves our backups on their normal cycle. Some minimal records (for example, the log showing consent was given and withdrawn) may be kept where the law requires it.
You can access and export your data, correct it, delete it, and withdraw any permission you have granted (Apple Health sharing, notifications, or a child's consent) at any time. Most of this lives directly in the app. For anything you cannot do there, contact us and we will handle it. We do not discriminate against anyone for exercising their rights, and where state law gives you the right to appeal a decision we make about your data, you can.
Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access inside CliQ is limited to people who need it to run the service. No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend ours is, but if a breach ever affects your data we will tell you promptly and plainly.
If we change this policy in any way that matters, the app will ask you to review and accept the new version before you continue. Silent changes to material terms are not something we do.
Questions, requests, or concerns about privacy: reach us through Help & Support in the app, and mark the message for privacy. We answer these ourselves.
