CliQ does not detect concussions. Here is why.

Plenty of products promise to tell you when a hit mattered: helmet sensors that alert on big impacts, apps that promise a read on a collision. CliQ works differently. This page explains the difference so you can decide what your family actually needs.

What detection products promise

The pitch is simple: mount a sensor, set a threshold, and get an alert when a hit crosses it. The implication is that the device can tell you whether the hit was serious.

Why we do not make that promise

Impact force alone cannot tell you whether a specific athlete was injured. Two athletes can take nearly identical hits with different outcomes, and no consumer device can tell you which outcome your athlete just had.

That cuts both ways. An alert that never fires is not proof that nothing happened, and a wrong all-clear is worse than no answer, because families act on it. So CliQ never issues a verdict on a hit, in the app or from the sensor.

What CliQ does instead

CliQ keeps a current picture of your athlete's normal. Three-minute check-ins measure reaction time, memory, focus, and coordination, and the app reads those scores alongside the sleep, training, and movement data from the wearables your family already owns. The optional helmet sensor records the force, direction, and time of impacts and adds them to the same record.

When a question comes up, you are not guessing from memory. You have a record of what is normal for this athlete, current through this week, and something concrete to bring to a doctor. The judgment stays with a professional who can see the whole picture. What changes is what you can hand them.

Where the limits are

CliQ is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, detect, or rule out any injury or condition, and it is not a substitute for medical evaluation. If you suspect an injury, see a qualified medical professional.
